and personally rush to ensure her safety when her life is in danger. Ciel snaps at Lizzie, but he's just as quick to apologize without apologizing. Sebastian is always slipping in some underhanded comment to get a rise out of Ciel and make him think. It's something that is constantly stirred and ruffled by other characters, despite his hardest efforts to seem stone cold. His exterior is a thin, callous shell to protect his tender heart. but most importantly, he can be challenged. He can be cruel and insufferable, he can be haughty, he can be annoying. Does that make sense?Ĭiel is kind of a dick, true. Even though he has a tragic story, he feels flat. but I find it rather hard to sympathize with the verisimilitude of his character in any way. He doesn't need a redeeming quality, per se. That said, Alois is far from that for me. I hope what I am about to say does not sound like I am discrediting you, personally.ĭon't get me wrong, I love a good villain. Personally I think yes, as sebastian's last order from Ciel was to eat every last drop of Ciels soul, and the order to continue to be Ciels butler still stood.
That's honestly up to interpretation I think. As for Ciel having the authority to order sebastian. And sebastian wasn't able to get to Ciels soul because Ciel used his ring to pay for the ferry, which contained his soul. However because Sebastian got greedy and tried to set up a second revenge for Ciel so he could enjoy an even more delicious soul it opened the gates for Alois to make the contract with hannah that transformed Ciel into a demon. I don't remember Sebastian getting his arm cut off? Maybe I missed that part?
Lau being alive still doesn't make sense, especially since he barely played any role in season 2, so I'll give you that.
He didn't eat Alois's soul, just stuffed it in a ring. And claude didn't technically invalidate the contract. To be fair, ciel has always been kind of a dick, it's just never been quite so in your face about it. I can totally see why you think that about hannah, and honestly yeah I agree. As for his brother, it was at least clear he did care for him to an extent, and as orphans they had no one else to turn to for love and guidance or support, and as toddlers and young children's typically pick a favorite family member, little bro chose Alois. He's a blast to watch, where as the angel character. He wasn't really meant to be redeemed, so why give him any redeeming qualities. However I found a lot of redeeming things about the season.Īlois is my favorite villain in a few forms of media, because he's such a flamboyant asshole. I can definitely understand that point of view.
